Arctic Monkeys - Beneath the Boardwalk (2005)

The then-unknown band's rise to fame became apparent in late 2004 and early 2005 when they began to build an online fanbase after giving out copies of demo CDs at gigs. The contents of these CDs had been ripped onto computers and made available online, and Arctic Monkeys' audience spread across the UK and beyond due to online file sharing. This was epitomised by Beneath the Boardwalk, an unofficial collection of songs obtained at gigs available for download for free from local amateur photographer Mark 'The Sheriff' Bull's webpage. This collection provided existing Arctic Monkeys fans with a one-stop-shop for all the demo tracks that had been released.
